The Miami-Dade County is dedicated in its efforts to improve community infrastructure and catalyze the economic growth of the county. Port Miami is positioned to welcome a new era in big ship vessels. Upwards of $1 billion in capital infrastructure has been injected into the Port Miami Deep Dredge project aimed at making Port Miami a Global Gateway. In addition, the  Miami Avenue Bridge Improvement Project located on South Miami Avenue over the Miami River has undergone structural and electrical repair and replacement as well as the installation of navigation lighting. The bridge re-opened on November 30, 2015.

Additionally, the Underline will be transforming the land underneath the Miami Metrorail into a massive park with pedestrian and bicycle safety. This one-of-a-kind urban trail is directly linked to transit. Speaking of transit, the Miami Intermodal Center or the MIC Program involves the MIA Mover, Rental Car Center, Miami Central Station. With its major roadway improvements, the MIC has facilitated better connectivity between Palm Beach County, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and the Florida Keys, making travel easier for residents and visitors.

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department has also undertaken a Capital Improvement Plan to upgrade pipes, pump stations and water and waste water treatment plants spread over thousands of miles. This will provide improved waste water management and enhance the quality of drinking water for the local community.

Finally, the West Venetian Bascule Bridge underwent a replacement project as a result of extensive damage due to harsh environmental effects. Due to its low elevation and proximity to the water, the westernmost 730 feet of the Bridge had to undergo extensive rehabilitation and was re-opened on  February 29, 2016.
